It's Ok... Eat the Dark Chocolate

If you're a dancer, then you've been sore. It's a fact of life. There was a point in time where sore became a personality trait because of how sore I was from practice.

Interviewer: Describe yourself in five words.
Me: Ambitious, compassionate, sore, goofy, tired.

In many cases, we turn to over-the-counter meds to soothe the aches and pains that are often caused by inflammation. This is fine, BUT many of our favorite foods have anti-inflammatory qualities. So maybe we can rely less on ibuprofen and, instead, increase our intake of some of these anti-inflammatory foods:

  • Blueberries: PACKED with antioxidants, leading to a significant anti-inflammatory effect on the body... and completely capable of satisfying your sweet tooth
  • Salmon: High in omega-3 fatty acids and proven to help reduce inflammation
  • Pineapples: Contain an enzyme that achieves results similar to taking anti-inflammatory drugs...minus the side effects
  • Broccoli: Mom didn't lie. Broccoli is also high in Vitamin C and calcium!
  • Dark Chocolate: You read right. You have another excuse to "treat yo self"
These are just a few easy options that you can incorporate into your lunch bags/dinner prep. Check out this article for additional information and other foods that fall under the anti-inflammatory category!
