In our last post, we discussed the importance of dance officer workshops with insight from our Director of Curriculum Courtney Nelson. Well, we brought her back to discuss our Social Officer Workshops!
Social Officers are the heartbeat of the team. They are the motivators, the moral boosters, and the branch that links the team to the dance officers. When the social officers know their roles and are prepared for the year ahead, things run smoothly. We've designed our workshops to do just that! Social officers walk away ready to give the best version of themselves all year long.

What happens in a social officer workshop?
Workshops can be as little as four hours to however
long the director feels the line needs to meet the expectations of the
director.
We focus on leadership, planning, follow through
and team building. Social officers may walk away with notebooks,
planners, room decorations (such as locker signs, room décor to match the
team’s theme for the year), candy grams,
etc.
What goals do you hope to achieve in this time frame?
Our goal for workshops is for the socials officers to walk away with the knowledge and the “how to” to execute their year successfully as well as build the team’s moral and determination from the inside out.
What themes do you cover in a social officer
workshop?
Workshops can be designed to plan the entire
year and how to follow through with the activities. We focus on leadership as a
social officer, explain the role that they will fill for the team and how to
make the most impact as a social officer.
As a former director, what value do you see in
having these workshops available to social officers?
It’s DONE!
Many times social officer workshops are very generic and leave the
social officers with very little completed for the entire year. However, with a workshop from MCDC, we focus
on THE TEAM and what they need!
